How different are previews from official performances? I've never been to one before. I'd really like to see 110 In The Shade, but it will be in previews when I am in NY. Do you still get playbills, etc.? Is it worth going or do you feel ripped off? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

There are Playbills, and while changes can still be made, they usually aren't (especially major changes), especially when the show has been out-of-town before Broadway. I enjoy previews, seeing the shows before the reviews...

Also, I'd say that a revival is less likely to through as many changes as new work might during previews, although that's probably not a hard and fast rule.

Regarding previews...the best time to see a show in previews is during it's final week of previews simply because the show is pretty much 'frozen' by then. Also, it is MANDATORY for the actors to attend preview performances, so you rarely (if ever) see a preview performance with any understudies, unless you're seeing a show with Donna Murphy -- she missed practically every preview performance of the recent revival of WONDERFUL TOWN.
