I am FINALLY going to see RENT in Nov and I was wondering which cast is playing right now (I know there was an angel cast, which one is this) and who is in the cast and if they are good? I am sitting in row C which I am very excited about cause I've always sat last row for almost every show I've ever seen. Anyway, I just wanted more info about the cast that's in right now:) Thanks!

Why was one called an Angel Cast?

The different tour casts were named after different characters. To the best of my knowledge the Broadway cast has just been known as the Broadway cast.

the cureent b-way cast is ok. they dont have a name like the tours. im going tobe goin to see it on oct 24th for the 17th time i saw it in july and they were ok. not as good as the original of couse but its worth seeing. its truly the most amazing show in b-way history

Rent is such a great show, it almost doesnt matter what cast it is... IMO

I'm really interested to see Drew Lachey. I normally don't like it when pop stars try to become broadway actors. I wasn't too thrilled when I heard Joey Mac was going to be in Wicked. I'm going to be seeing him in Nov too. We'll see how this whole former boy band turned broadway star works out. I'm kinda skeptical. Does anyone else feel the same way?? or am I all alone on this one?

Joey Mac as Fiyero...loved it. Doesnt hit the highs as high as Norbert does on the cd...but Joey impressed the hell out of me onstage and singing..not many people prolly agree with me though.

Drew Lachey as Mark...saw him last week...ehhh..he was ok...comedic bits he was good at..Tango Maureen was a highlight...he didnt miss a note singing but his acting was kindof flat at times..sometimes he was believable..sometimes...I didn't feel it at all.

Overall...loved not seeing Mel B (scary spice) as Mimi...she sounded badddd on "out tonight" when I saw her..I assumed she was sick..but some people said she sounded like that her whole run..lol. Whoever I saw as Mimi last week (forget her name) sang the hell out of that song. My friend and I turned to eachother and was like THAT's how the song is supposed to be done. And Jeremy Kushnier as Roger...LOVE HIM.

thanks for the info on joey mac...i'm going to see him in november, and i was a little wary, especially cause i love norbert. But as long as Idina's there, i'm happy!

I definitely agree about Drew...he needs a few acting lessons, and needs to annunciate better, but singing wise he was pretty good..definitely better than joey fatone. At first I appreciated the fact that he had a different take on the mark character instead of just copying a previous cast member, but i dont think he's truly acting as Mark...

I think Jeremy Kushnier is AWESOME as roger...such a great actor...and Justin Johnston as Angel and Destan Owens as Tom Collins are also great.

I liked 98degrees and enjoyed their voices....and me being a huge fan of RENT..my friend and I wanted to go see Drew and check him out in the show. We wanted to see Joey Fatone too...but never made it...saw Joey in Lil Shop before it closed though. Drew's singing was on and glad to hear him sing again...but he's not the best Mark Ive seen...that honor goes to Matt Caplan..but that's another thread..lol

Justin I saw last week as well...damn he can dance..and in those shoes no less! Destan Owens was great..I agree..Ive seen him twice now...made me really feel the emotions when Angel dies.

And has anyone else caught Frenchie Davis doing the Seasons solo? She was out the first time I went since she's been with the show...but I caught her last week...and the house went nuts when she sang.

I saw Frenchie on a tuesday night and she was seriously one of the best soloists i've seen. I just wished she would've hit the high note :) I was kind of pissed because i saw the cast on a tuesday and then i saw them a week and a half later on the next saturday and they were a million times better on saturday, which i know is the night to be 'your best' but still! Have some consistency! Although on saturday I saw a different soloist, who definitely made it her own and hit the high note, but I thought Frenchie was better.
