sorry, i so detest beyonce so that would keep me further away. she was adequate in Dreamgirls but thankfully Jennifer Hudson stole the show. i wonder how Montego and Chad feel about all these stars swirling around, sizing up their performances and knowing they won't be able to reprise them on screen.

Gotham Girl, I think its a part of the business. Not many leads from Broadway shows get casted in the film versions of their shows.

I thought EFRON made it known that he didn't want to do any more musicals and was concentrating on dramatic roles {LOL}....but I guess "ST CLOUDY with a Chance no one wanted to see this film" 's lack luster Box Office has changed his mind!

He saw the show several times this month and probably changed his mind. It's like when Amanda Bynes said she retired from acting and two weeks later changed her mind. lol. He still has other projects in the works, anyway. Memphis opened almost a year ago and they are already planning a movie?

No, he said he wanted to do another musical RIGHT NOW. And he won't. He's starting another drama soon and all his other projects in development are thrillers, dramas and one comedy.

This would be the first musical he adds to his slate and considering that it would certainly take a few years until the movie is actually happening, this is perfectly in line of what he said... that he wants to do another musical but down the line.

Considering that Efron has his own production shingle and a major studio deal, I would also suspect that he's trying to option the rights and develop it himself - not just star in it. And that's probably why it makes sense for him to show interest now and not when the movie goes actually in production.

Of course, that's all based on the assumption that he is indeed interested in more than just watching the stage musical. Updated On: 8/19/10 at 06:20 PM

JT would be a much better choice. After all he is from Memphis and has that soulful vibe in his vocie that Zac doesn't have. JT also (imo) will be shown to be the better actor after the Facebook movie comes out, in comparison to Efron,.

i guess JT is the likely choice. he's got the musical chops and can probably hit that last note of Memphis Lives In Me with ease. Zac is too pretty to play a scruffy, soulful redneck. Not that Chad isn't pretty but you get my point. LOL

I'm a big Chad and Montego fan too but id actually prefer to see more established "movie actors" take the film to the next level.

What Kimball does on stage wont resonate on the big screen... people either love him or hate his character, but he owns the stage. It will be really interesting to see how they interpert they Huey role in the movie. Kimball add's just enough humor and charm for the live auidence... but in the movie, i keep picturing Huey to be a more serious character.

For montego's role... i hate to say it, but i feel like you can basiclly cast any black singer/actress to play her role (as long as they can sing and act well enough)... the role isnt exactly challenging for a movie.

Wouldn't JT be too old for the role?

By the time the movie goes into production he's in his 30s. I'm not very familiar with this musical but from what I get in the beginning Huey is supposed to be a teenager; and while JT would be fine on stage, I have a hard time buying him as teenager or even a 23-year-old on film.

I agree, Justin Timberlake would be a great fit for Huey. And I was JUST thinking earlier today that Anika Noni Rose would be perfect for Felicia.
