my partner and i were just listening to the OBC during dinner, and it struck us both (and you could not find two more different views on art and life, fwiw) how relevant and powerful the music and lyrics to this show remain.
I agree it will take time to find an audience, and I understand that commercial success on broadway has been reduced to a formula that is multiplied by a least common denominator, but ... truly: musicals rarely get better than this. given all that is swirling about us in the larger public discourse, this just might resonate enough to find commercial success.
We'll be there, in any event!
I can completely respect opinions contrary -- statistically, they're probably right ... all i can say in rebuttal is: LISTEN TO THE MUSIC!
