Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has tried to get rush tickets for Rent through the lottery they do before the show. I was thinking about trying to get tickets for a Saturday matinee, but I'm really not keen on the idea of going into the city and standing around for hours and hours just to wind up coming home disappointed. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to get these tickets? Has anyone here gone? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm sure that many people here have done lotto for Rent. You need to get there a bit before two hours prior to the show to fill out a card with your name. Two hours before the show, the drawing takes place. So, no, you do not have to wait for 'hours and hours'. You'll need photo I.D. and cash if you win. There's no way to tell what your chances are for winning. If there are a hundred people there, you have a 1 in 100 chance, if there are 50 people there you have a 1 in 50 chance, and so on. Weekends tend to have larger crowds than during the week, but there's no way to predict. Good luck.
p.s. You can always go to TKTS and get tickets if you lose lottery.

Posted: 8/13/05 at 8:35pmMy friend won lotto for yesterday's night show (Friday). I tried 2x's and lost..back in March and June..but it varies towards the amount of people. I recommend going anyway cause there's ALWAYS a chance for anything :) And it won't be completely sold out (highly unlikely that it is) so you could get seats there even if you don't win the lotto :)

It migh tbe a little crowded for a Saturday matinee, but there's still a chance. I went for the Wednesday matinee in July and there were baout 30 people, and I won.

Does anyone know if travelers checks are accepted as well? Depending on the location, most accept it as cash, but do NY theatres?

I've done the Rent lottery 3 times and won everytime, the last time was in January... I've never seen it busy, once they had extra tickets left after the lottery.

The odds change based on the number of people who show up but actually rely on the number of seats available. Let's say 100 people are there, and they only have 20 tickets. Basically, you have a one in ten chance at winning. Assuming of course that everyone takes the TWO tickets. If everyone where only taking one, then you would have a 1 in 5 chance.

Old message I am pulling up here.
Has anyone tried lotto on Monday nights? Since most theaters are dark on Mondays I am wondering if the lotto crowd is a ton bigger on Monday nights than other nights of the week..... Anyone have any experience with SRO on Monday evenings as well?

Think it's 32 tickets.
Do it. I've seen the show multiple times, and won everytime.

what about those 20dollar SRO's?? Are they really available even if the performance is not sold out?

Posted: 9/11/05 at 10:59pmthe one time i went on a Monday night, it was pretty packed. It was around the end of April so I don't think that's high tourist time. Last time i'll ever go on a Monday, much rather go on some random thursday when there are 50 people tops there. But that doesn't mean its not worth a shot!
