So lets say rent does close in the next year or two, perhaps this will be a good thing becasue people will be screaming for more jonathan larson stuff. I think some remounting of superbia is in order...now i know, I KNOW, that this show had some problems and was no where near complete...but lets face it, 'tick tick boom' was no where near complete in jonathan larson's monologian(not a word) version. Perhaps some people, IE clsoe friends who knew his vision, could come in and help the show a bit. Sondheim liked the workshop of it afterall and said it showed great promise. So why not at least release some of the songs besides "come to your senses?" Just my little thought
i dont know, its a good thought, but i wouldnt want to hurt his memory. in my mind, rent was perfect, and that is what he should be remembered for. BUT if lord sondheim would head the workshop, i woulnt really be against it.
I agree with nystateomind04. Even though I'd really like to see Superbia, Jon's not here to make corrections or anything like that.
But since Jon and Sondheim were good friends, it might not be that bad if Sondheim did a workshop...

Yes, but keep in mind, Jonathan wasn't around to make corrections for TTB either. It is possible for his writing to be turned into a new work, even if it isn't as he would have originally planned.
The problem I forsee is that there simply isn't enough material to do so. But again, other material could be written by outside creators, and it could work. Who knows.
Is there a possibility that RENT is closing in the next year or two?!?!
absolutely fabulous- if you search the boards, there was a recent thread about that.
i'd go see it if it came out. i wonder alot how many other awesome plays we would be talking about if Jonathan was still here and doing what he loved...
I can only imagine how much Jon could have done if he was still alive. He accomplished so much in his lifetime, that I'm sure he could have written so much more.
