Rent- Movie

Hey everyone. This may be a dumb question, but oh well. Will the movie version of Rent be a musical, or will it just be the story line with no singing? Please dont attack me, I am just wondering.

Thanks, Evelyn. I'm glad that Julie Larson McCollum and the producers are involved. It makes me feel a little safer about the adaption.

I see in the article that Chbosky will be helping with the script. I liked some of the things in his screenplay, so thats a good thing.

I haven't seen Rent but will do so before year end since I've heard such good things about it. Since you guys on this board know alot of info - any chance that Wicked would be made into a movie in the future?

I believe it is being made into a movie, but its the book version not the muscial.

Sorry to nit-pick, but its a muscial not a play. Plays have no singing.

I prefer the book so I am happy, but then its just my opinion! In a movie I think they could pull off the darker more political side of the story, which the muscical knew it couldnt going in, hence the changes.

When/if Wicked is made into a movie, it wouldn't even really begin filming until ticket sales have dipped. As you prbably know, it doesn't seem like this will happen anytime in the immeadiate future, so you'll just have to be patient. I am excited to hear that it will probably be based more on the book though. There is so much more to the story than what is shown on the stage. Anyways, back to RENT. There have been tons of threads on this. I can't find them right this second, but when I do, I will update my post I think you might enjoy reading them.
