From the NY Post:
"The Light in the Piazza" won for its complex, shimmering and beautiful score by Adam Guettel, the grandson of Richard Rodgers, but the spiritual heir of Stephen Sondheim."
That would be a wonderful observation. However, it comes from a man who left the show at intermission cause he hated it.
And which way is the wind blowing today?
Riedel is such a poser sometimes. Hindsight is 20/20, I guess.
Sometimes?
hehe
That makes me laugh SOOOOOOOO hard.
Aren't so many people like that?

Now-- I haven't seen Piazza, and haven't heard the album yet:
But....
Wasn't the applause for Piazza winning "Best Score" the weakest of the night? Was it just me or did it seem that for such a great year for theatre music there didn't seem to be a lot of love for the winner?

He was just making fun of the score the other day, calling it "dense" and "New York Times" approved.
I'm confused... how do you know that Riedel left at intermission?

Wow some people have a real problem with "Light in the Piazza". It's obviously had an effect on some people. Talk about giving one show so much attention....
I though Peter Filicia was going to choke Riedel on the Breakfast with the Arts Tony show.
Riedel is officially an ASS CLOWN, in my book.
Riedel duplicitous? He's done a 180-degree turn on Christina Applegate. She was originally in over her head, now she's a delight to watch apparantly.
He's a genius. We're talking about him, right?
I am not qualified to speak about a show I have not seen but I have to say that the few minutes of Light in the Piazza shown on the Tonys were very promising. Those few moments held mystery and magic.
On the other hand I think Applegate showed a few moments of dud quality.
