I literally just got home from my trip to NYC. Thanks to everyone on here who gave me advice!

I'm going to talk about Spring Awakening and Les Miserables as if those of you reading have already seen the show. So expect spoilers.

I saw S.A. on Monday night. I LOVED this show. I completely believed the characters. I thought the staging and lighting was really aesthetically pleasing. I was in awe of the talent on stage. Obviously if they are cast in a Broadway show they must be talented, but many times there is a weak link. I was impressed by every single person on that stage.

Now, right after the beating scene I had to go to the bathroom. Trust me, I was so mad that I had to get up and miss part of the show. So if someone could please PM me or post here what happens between that scene and intermission, I'd really appreciate it.

Actually, it worked in my favor that I went to the restroom when I did. Otherwise, I would have immediately gone during intermission. But as it happened, I walked back to my seat from the mezz. and looked around at the orchestra seats. I noticed Jake Gyllenhaal sitting in the middle 8 rows back. I was able to meet him when he got up. He was really nice. He asked me if I liked the show so far and he said he was enjoying it. (I was in the TRL audience the next day and he also said on-air that he liked the show) So there you go: Spring Awakening- Jake Gyllenhaal approved! S.A. 2/26 and Les Mis 2/27 reviews

So because I was still shocked that I just met my favorite actor, I had a hard time getting back into the show. I didn't emotionally invest into these characters the way I would have otherwise. I really want to see this show again.

I saw Les Mis on Tuesday night and it was actually my reason for coming to New York. I had seen it once before 6 years ago in KY so I was excited to see it now. The chain gang beginning was always a low point in the show for me, but once "At the End of the Day" started I was really into it. I liked Celia's Eponine. Is that character always so spunky? I don't remember it being played that like when I saw it before. Either way, I liked her interpretation of the character. It broke my heart when she leaned into Marius for a kiss but dies before. Norm Lewis was great. Always a force when he was on stage, commanding the attention. Alex has an amazing voice, but his acting left a little something to be desired. The girl who played young Cosette was adorable. She has a beautiful voice and is a wonderful actress. It'll be exciting to see what other shows she performs in as she grows up.

So anyway, I had a great time at the shows and in NYC. I won't bore you with anymore details, this is long enough as it is! S.A. 2/26 and Les Mis 2/27 reviews

(I edited this because I realized I used the wrong dates in the title! That's how tired and jetlagged I was when I got home because there isn't a 2/29 this year. haha) Updated On: 3/1/07 at 01:02 AM
