Posted: 8/4/05 at 8:08pmI teched this show my fresh year - we had a wonderful cast, but I just don't think it's meant to be a live show. Our Tom was a comedic genius and our Shulie had a brilliant voice. It seems very high energy and good for kids, but it works its way pretty low on my list of favorite shows.

i did it!!!!! it was the jr. version though, and we had a big cast, so i'm not sure my characters name was even really a character... i played molly.. (?) and sand interjections-BEST SONG! and had solos (thomas jefferson) in elbow room-also BEST SONG!!

Posted: 8/4/05 at 11:04pmI love Schoolhouse Rock, and I HATE Schoolhouse Rock Live. The songs, which are whimsical and fun as individual shorts on TV just don't translate very well to the stage.

My high school did this for my junior year, but our director basically wrote our own book, which I find rather obnoxious. I was in the company, but I did have a solo for 1/4th of Sufferin' 'til Suffrage, which ROCKED.
Basically, the show was an absolute pain to rehearse but totally awesome to perform. It's one of those uber-energy shows that is just so positive to make everyone so insanely happy. And the dancing was really awesome--Circulation was an absolute blast to do.

Posted: 8/5/05 at 4:14pmThe script is just there to let the cast breathe and set up for the next number. I agree it is very bad; it might have been better just to do it as a revue, but the actors would have dropped dead long before the end.
