Posted: 6/2/09 at 6:24pmYou can tell from the way Sister Act is being marketed over here that it is aimed as much at the tourist $ as the home £. I'm surprised Whoopi didn't answer "Exchange rate" when asked why it was opening in London first - particularly since it reads like we're going to get Minskys first as well.

Posted: 6/2/09 at 6:28pmI thought Cavenaugh and Scaglione did a great job. I would have liked him to be a little more passionate. But it was a fine vocal performance

With all the buzz, expect a Broadway transfer for the 2010-2011 season (Patina Miller is contracted with the London company through May of next year.)
It really is terrific to see the proper legwork was done between the "tryout" version in Pasadena/Atlanta and what has become a sparkling finished product.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Whoopi had said, when she announced the production was going to London, that it would most likely come to New York in the Fall. I hope she's right.
I've heard nothing but stellar things about the production!

BROADWAYBOUND I hope you are kidding about Matt and Hosefina,
If anyone has their phone number
call tham and tell them they are spose' to act when they sing.
Matt had one look on his face the whole time and Scags had that big smile like she was on the old HIT PARADE show.
I thought Matt sounded rather nasal and where were they, on some manicured Eastside roof garden?

Posted: 6/3/09 at 12:00amThat version of "Tonight," albeit nicely sung, was utterly passionless and seemed to lack any chemistry whatsoever...

Posted: 6/3/09 at 12:15amI can't stand the way his nasal voice sounds singing that song.

Posted: 6/3/09 at 12:27amOn the up side the set used for that performance was even better than the set in the actual show.

yes, because the green putt putt lawn is just where they would be.
Does anyone else think Scags hates Cavs cause he's been missing shows while the TONY voters are coming to see her?

What does she care? Whether he's there or not will not work in her favor. He's awful in the role.
And yeah, at least that set - albeit too nice - was leagues more interesting than the current version.
I liked what I saw of "Sister Act." I think it could do well here on Broadway. It seems fresh, even though it's based on a movie. But I think it lends itself easily to being a musical.
