I was doing some google for images from productions of "Hello, Dolly !" and I saw signs and pictures of Sally Struthers and Dolly.....everytime I think of her I think about that episode of South Park where she looks like Jabba the Hut.
Did anyone see this production?

Ironic that you should post this as Sally is coming to Oklahoma City this summer to do Dolly.
And for your information, she is an excellent performer. She was supurb as Miss Lynch in the national tour of Grease and Miss Hanigan in the national tour of Annie.
Try judging someone on their ability instead of their weight. And let's see a pic of you, Unmaskd. Or perhaps it's better the leave the mask on.

I judged her on her ability. I'm a little shallow, so I also judged her on her weight. her weight was fine.

Yes, I've seen her in Dolly. She did it here in MN the summer of 2003 and she was pretty damn good. It was with a company I've worked with and the director was good friends with her. Unfortunately, I couldn't be in the production due to another show commitment. I was skeptical too before going in but she made me a believer. She got the laughs without milking things and had a decent voice.
I remember her as Miss Lynch too...she was a riot but I still preferred Marcia Lewis.
I had the chance to meet her on several occasions that summer and a handful of times since because she stops in to MN every so often - she is one of the nicest, most kind people in the business. My friends said she was a pro to work with and supported them in everything they did. I think that's pretty cool.
A side note, Sally is coming back to MN this fall to play Miss Mona in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Check out the link below for info...

Posted: 3/5/05 at 9:01amRuth Williamson did a production of Mame with Sally Struthers as Gooch and I understand she stole the show. There is an early episode of Gilmore Girls (maybe late in season one or early season two) where she sings something - maybe the national anthem or something at a town meeting - and she actually sounds great. I think she is a highly underrated performer, and deserves a lot of credit for all the wonderful, quirky performances she's given over the years - I say - go for it Sally, I bet you're and excellent Dolly!

actually I think they did. but sally was the only purveyor of FEMALE pulchritude.
The show was cancelled for being too controversial for network TV.

I have heard that she was divine in HELLO DOLLY! All those years on ALL IN THE FAMILY, her Emmys (I believe she won two as Gloria, certainly at least one)........she seems a reasonably obvious choice for Dolly.
I saw her on Broadway in the female THE ODD COUPLE and she was greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat. She completely blew Rita Moreno's rather "nonperformance" off the stage.
I also saw her in the rather dreadful Tommy Tune production of GREASE and her Miss Lynch was indeed the highlight.

Posted: 3/5/05 at 12:26pmSally Struthers has many, MANY theater credits. She's one of our comic geniuses. She's also sweet and loving and everyone who's ever had any kind of dealing with her at all adores her. I just wished she did NY theater so we could see her onstage. I've only been able to see her in a reading.
