pushdabutton - He's sick. He's been sick for a few days according to his twitter but it finally caught up with him
It was the first show he's missed in his run (over 280 performances)

Posted: 11/23/10 at 5:48pmI think it's safe to say Sean will be welcomed in open arms next time he comes back to Broadway. He is such a pro and is excellent in Promises. Can't wait for him to return. He would be great in How to Succeed as Finch if he was a bit younger...

Benson is on again tonight. I wonder why he isn't credited as an understudy?

Posted: 11/23/10 at 10:35pmI give Sean Hayes a lot of credit. I am glad he went into the show with a goal of not missing a performance. Sickness happens. You rest and get rid of it. He will be back in no time.

Benson wasn't credited as being Mark Rylance's standby in Boeing-Boeing either. Some actors will choose not to be listed as an understudy or standby in the program, usually, I think, for some stupid ego-driven reason, as they don't want to be looked upon as an understudy once they've graduated to principle roles. They are just doing it for the money.
Also, if they go on, they get a big slip with their photo and bio put in the program. However, since Benson is already playing a smaller role in the show, I would assume that he didn't get one of those.
