They've built a brand new one in Brooklyn. The Times Square booth still stands partially completed.
And, this new one will accept credit cards, to boot.
Anyone else find this situation incredibly amusing, if for nothing else than the absurdity of it all?
New TKTS booth to open in Brooklyn this July

Posted: 6/18/08 at 4:58pmI would think that the new Times Square booth will accept credit cards as well. It's always funny to watch people who've been standing in line for a while and when they get to the ticket window go to pay with a credit card and a re denied. They then have to find a ATM and get back in line.

Yes, those steps above the booth are so practical!

Posted: 6/18/08 at 5:09pmI thought the exact same thing when I heard about the Brooklyn location. Ironically there was a TKTS booth in Brooklyn in the early 90s that they eliminated (close to where the new one is).

But they didn't have to build a whole new booth in Brooklyn like in the heart of Times Square. They have a store front they had to just set-up...much like when they moved to the Seaport after September 11.
I think it is great that there will be a third booth. I still wish there was a booth in Union Square that pushes Off Broadway.

This is much like the NYC subways
In the time it is taking them to repair it, they could have built another one.

Well the new Times Square booth does look great...
...in the Will Smith film I AM LEGEND, where he hunts down an animal right off the northern curb of the booth.
At least we know it'll be done by 2009, when civilization ends.
