I am going to see the Brian D'arcy James' Final Performance in Shrek on Nov 8 and Next to Normal the day before. I was wondering if anyone can give me any tips that would be extremely helpful. I need to know where the stage door is and when I should leave the theatre to get a good place in line. Thank you so much, and I don't mean to sound annoying, but I can't look up anything because I am on mobile for a few weeks since my computer broke and blah blah blah... anyways thank you again

I can't tell you anything about shrek, seeing how when I had a ticket for it I gave it away (glad I did,) Anywho. For Next to Normal, the stage door is the gold door to your right if you are looking at the broadway shop in Shubert Alley. I left right as they were walking off stage from the end of curtain call and made it to a great spot, also, I was in the last row of the mezz. Hope that helped a bit.

The stage door for Shrek is on 53rd st. If you go out the front door, turn left and left again, and they have barricades set up. The Shrek stage door is never really that crowded, and everyone signs and takes pictures with everyone, so if you don't leave early, you should be fine with getting a good spot.

The stage door for Next to Normal is in Shubert alley, and that is usually fairly crowded, so you might want to leave a little early to get a good spot, but again, everyone is really nice and signs for everyone who wants it.

The Broadway Theatre stage door is on 53rd street. If you go out the main enterance, go to your left and around the corner.

The Booth Theatre stage door is right in Shubert Alley, across from Juniors. There is a sign right up on the door.

Honestly, I did stage door for Shrek and I stayed through the curtain call and was fine.

Thank you all! I can't wait to see both performances. I hope there aren't many understudies.

Even for Brian's Final Performance do you think the stage door will be packed at all?

I'm sure it will be more crowded than usual as lots of other people will be attending that particular performance for all the same reasons you are -- you're not the only one. Also, since it IS his last performance, expect to wait longer than usual for him to leave the theatre as I'm sure he will have dressing room guests as well as personal farewells from cast members, staff/crew, etc.

Good luck.
