Stariway to Heaven

Posted: 7/14/04 at 9:36amThis came up on another threat yesterday but I think it deserves it's own. I watched an old film last night called Stairway to Heaven (original title: A Matter of Life and Death) with Kim Hunter and David Niven, Ramond Massey and a host of other famous character actors. The story is amazing, even as dated as the film is. I think it almost demands to be musicalized, and though my boyfriend thinks I should do it (perish the thought) I think there are better people for the job out there. Stephen Sondheim - are you out there? There are so many lines in the movie that just jump out at you as though they sing...for instance, the romantic leads fall in love over a two way radio as the fighter pilot is about to go down with his burning plane...later (when he lives, and they have fallen deeper in love) she says she didn't fall for his looks, but "it was his voice I fell in love with"...that, to me says that there's music and singing that needs to be associated with the story. So who wants to help me write this? I'm not a writer - but if no one equal to the task jumps on it (like the afore-mentioned Mr. Sondheim) - I just might have to!

wow! that's quite an undertaking, don't you think, Redhot? it sounds like an amazing story--definatly could have a chance if musicalized correctly. i sincerely would offer to help you, but i simply don't have the time. but hey, if you ever have writer's block, i can help you! i've had to deal with it myself, and maybe this time i can break through it! Good luck!
