I love this play and think that every part is a great part.....it just depends on what the actresses are doing with the parts. Some parts are better known(maybe flashier) than others like Truvy, Ouiser, and Shelby. The cast has several well-known actress in too.
Still, for those of you who have seen it, or heard stuff about it....Who do you think will be nominated for the Tony??????? I don't see how they could leave this one off the ballot......
What do you guys think about this one???????

Posted: 4/3/05 at 11:11pmI think its only a decent play, and in the mis-directed production happening at the Lyceum, I doubt that in such a heavy play season it will receive very many Tony nominations, if any at all. Maybe one or two of the ladies might pull a nom out of their hat (Sternhagen & Rabe are the standouts - both fetured), but I could probably garantuee no wins. The set and costumes were nice, thats all I can reall say positive about this production.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 11:13pmShe plays Clarie, rights?????? That's the one whose got the best feedback that I've read on here...It's interesting, because I've always thought that that part was kinda the smallest or weakest, ect........relatively speaking, because the other ones are so good........

Yeah, tell me about that....I just bought and watched it today(although I've seen it many many times).....this made me want to ask about the play.........
Something tells me that the movie is better than the stage play....or at least this current one.....I've actually never seen a stage version of it....yet.....

There was my review after I saw it. And yes, the movie is FAR better than the current stage version, and therin lies the majority of this productions problems.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 11:19pmsternhagen will probably get a nomination, thought supporting actress in a play might be a hard category this year.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 11:21pmMy life revolves around the film. I need to see this production almost as bad as Shelby needs to drink her juice.

Posted: 4/3/05 at 11:24pmWho was in the original stage version?.....it wasn't listed on ibdb.com.....I'm guessing that it was just an off-broadway play then....
