I'm guessing that there's still a chance that SP might be prod'd for Stokes in the near future. I could just spit that I missed both of his shows at the Allen Room last week. I hear that his "This Nearly Was Mine" was sublime from friends who were there. I'm so glad I got to see him in SP at Carnegie Hall.
Am chomping at the bit to see him at the Nightlife Awards on 2/6. But meanwhile, I'll just have to be happy reading the glowing review in the NYT. Link below. Enjoy!

And LCT announced a SOUTH PACIFIC prod'n. I hope Stokes will be in it!

Posted: 1/16/06 at 3:53amStokes definately has the voice for it and in a concert he can surely pull the role off very nicely, but in an acyual production I don't think he would be the right choice for the role simply because the race of Emile's children plays a very important part in the show. I am all for color blind casting as long as race isn't an issue the show deals with. It may not play well to have Nelly put off by his children because of race while she has fallen in love with a black man.
