Would love to see this, but I don't want the show to get too guest star crazy.
That would be divine, especially considering that Streep hasn't done a guest-starring appearance on-screen in any TV show (her only guest star TV credits is her voice over work for KING OF THE HILL and THE SIMPSOMS). I know they wanted to get her to do WILL & GRACE back when the show was big but I assume she either turned it down or things didn't work out.
My lord, I can ONLY imagine what tey would write for her. MAYBE Kenneths mother!

Now all the show needs is viewers...
I don't want another Arrested Development on our hands. Then again, 30 Rock makes plenty of bank for NBC in other "new media" areas (online downloads, etc.) and it's pretty much one of the few bright spots in their horrific programming lineup.
On the other hand, they did already pull a "Scrubs" on it by having it start two months late to premiere the mediocre "Kath and Kim" when they could have easily capitalized on the buzz created by Fey as Palin. And head honcho Ben Silverman has made other boneheaded choices in the past...although they do give the show plenty of promotion...
Anyway, I think Meryl would be amazing, although I think Kenneth's mother is one of those characters who would be funnier if we never meet her (so that they can continue tweaking her with little references). She would be funny as Jenna's vain mom or something.
And why hasn't Amy Poehler ever visited TGS?
I have always wondered why Amy hasn't visited the show either. Also, what happened to Rachel Dratch's frequent quest appearances from season one? We never saw her again!

To be honest, they really didn't work. My theory is that Tina put them there as a compromise because her lobbying for her to stay on as Jenna failed.
As someone who saw the version of the pilot with Dratch, Krakowski's interpretation works so much better (a blond, bimbo weirdo instead of just a weirdo)
I think "they" (whoever that may be - the network, the writers, who knows) pulled the plug on the frequent Rachel Dratch appearances. I got that impression from the article about Tina Fey in Vanity Fair a couple months ago.
I also think Poehler is long overdue! But Streep would be fabulous...I can't get enough of this show.
What if LuPone and Streep were on the same episode as dueling Moms?
I think my head might explode.
