I know she has stated that she doesn't want to do revivals, but can anyone else see her starring as Mama Rose in a Gypsy revival about twenty years from now. I know its a long time away and we have no idea how she'll grow and change in that time, but right now I can see that happening.

Less than 5 minutes ago I put "Not for the Life of Me" as the song on my myspace.

Sorry, mini-threadjack

I don't think so... but we'll have to see in about 20 years.

There are other current young women who I'd think of putting in the role first, but I think she could be a unique choice.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

There's really no telling what Sutton will be like in 20 years.

However, when I think of the actresses on Broadway right now, I don't see that many of them having staying power... but, I can see Sutton being a star for years to come. And I'm not that big of a Sutton fan, so I'm not just saying that because I love her.

At the risk of being hounded and laughed at by people who are probably just too unimaginative to open their minds to it: Idina Menzel.

Also...Julia Murney.

I don't know about Idina, I love her, but I don't think she would fit it right. But Julia Murney, now thats an interesting idea.

I can see Idina as Mama Rose. It Bernadette can do it, she can.

I once asked Sutton if she would ever consider playing Mama Rose, and she said absolutely. And no worries, BroadwayGirl, Idina would make a fine Rose in fifteen years or so.

In 20 years, Sutton will be 51. If she is to be Rose--and Gypsy tends to get a revival every 12 years or so--it will be in the next revival, when she is in her early forties, in around 2016, which makes sense age-wise for the role.

I think Sutton would make a great Mame in 20 years. I was thinking that when I saw Mame last week.
