Ok so let's take a break from all the Wicked threads and help me with Sweeney Todd! My friend and I need to do a male/female British scene for a competition and I was thinking I would really like to do Sweeney Todd, because there is both a strong male and female character. I haven't seen the show in a while so could anyone who has the book possibly reccomend a scene from it that they think would be interesting to watch and might have either strong comedic/dramatic potential. Thanks
unless you're planning on singing, then I'd look elsewhere. If you ARE planing on singing, though, I suggest doing the song "A Little Priest". It's hilarious! The dialogue prior, and then the song, and the ending it's all just wonderful....great comedic stuff and dark humor.

Go to Joe Orton, Harold Pinter or Oscar Wilde. You'll find plenty of scenes there. Any of their plays.

The recent Donmar Warehouse production of After Miss Julie has some great male/female scenes in it. Author is Patrick Marber. Worth looking into.

Alright thanks everyone. Jose'-do you have a specific Oscar Wilde play in mind. I have almost all of his plays, and am not sure which one would have a great scene in it. Definitely don't want to do "The Importance of Being Earnest" though.
Actually the thing that was appealing to me about Sweeney Todd was the craziness of Nellie. If there is another British play anyone can think of with a really strong crazyish female character that would be great.

Tappedout, as I consider your screen name, I surmise that you are looking for music for a tap dance routine. Nothing is more repulsive than the image I have of Mrs. Lovett and Sweeney Todd tap dancing their way through Sondheim's magnificent score.
Say it ain't so!

Dollypop-I have the best image in my head right now of a 60ish Angela Lansbury in a torn apron and rags looking really awkward and old but still tapping up a storm while attempting to bake her pies, as a horrified customer looks on and then decides to join in the fun, and then the pies come alive and start tap dancing too!! Ahhhh good times<(gets teary)>
That is one hell of a mental image
