I just returned from seeing Sweet Charity here in Minneapolis for the 3rd time. The show has come a LONG way since it opened last Tuesday!! They reworked the opening sequence and it's a much stronger way to start the show now! For the 1st performance Christina walked out w/ her fella and sat on the stage. The "star applause" moment was covered up. Then, the 2nd time I saw it, she came out alone - insert applause here - and then she motioned her man onstage. I was pleased with that. Tonight the act curtain opens to reveal her adorably posed on her park bench set.
The transition from this first scene into the Fandango was a bit slow when it opened, but tonight, it was smooth-city!

Christina Applegate is REALLY growing into the role. Her breath support and control have come a LONG way. Like many said, she just needed a chance to get into the swing of things. This is a GREAT role for her and I hope it brings great things for her. The girl can dance AND sing, not to mention she completely brings Charity to life and you care about her every move.

The scene in the elevator is another one that gets funnier each time I see it.

Did anyone mention the ferris wheel on here? One word - YAY!

Everyone should see this show!
Chicago & Boston - Be ready for this one!! Don't miss it!

PS - the MPLS critics are for pooooooooooo!

i'm really hopeful for christina. as long as she's given the chance to grow into the role and doing 8 shows a week she'll be fine. she just has to learn quicker than most people.

I saw it last night and thought it was very well done. I could see where people had mentioned Christina's breathing problems, but I think it'll all work out. I love the ensemble dancing scene at Club Pompeii--very Austin Powerish (if that makes sense). I noticed some Fosse moves too. I was a little wary of seeing Cliento's choreography, but it was very good. I was pleasantly surprised with Christina's performance, I thought she did great and I know she surprised a lot of other people there too.
The ensemble is very good, never knew Manuel Herra could dance so well, its nice to see him out of the monkey suit. Denis O'Hare was hilarious in the elevator scene. Christina was also funny in the closet scene.
Definitely give it a try and go see it.
