#1TDF Membership?

Hi,
I'm thinking of asking for a TDF Membership as a B-day Present is it worth it? From what I understand is that you join and can then get tickets to Broadway shows for $35 each and to off bway shows for $25 each without having to risk rush or lottery. Anything else I should know? How do you join exactly? I know you pay by credit card online but I heard something about that you have to send your Student ID somewhere How does this work?
Can you pay Cash for the tickets? What shows are usually up there? How far in Advance can you buy them? During the slow months what shows will be up?
Thank you for all your help
Have a nice day

You've asked this question already, haven't you?
Or was that "Zeitujo"? I get you both confused.

Posted: 8/25/08 at 8:33pmI just joined about a month ago. I work for a non-profit organization. I filled out the on-line application and used my credit card to pay the fee. I copied my identification from work and mailed it to them. They ask that you mail them proof of whatever makes you eligible for mebership within 1 month. I have not purchased any tickets yet. [tos] and Spring Awakening have been on the list a lot. Xanadu as well, and have also seen Gypsy and Tale of 2 Cities on the list as well. I think it would be a great gift. I think that it will also get me to see more off broadway shows...elizabeth rex looks interesting, and I have been wanting to check out Fuerza Burta for a while. It looks like they give you a window of opportunity to pick from with regard to the dates. They also have dance performances as well. I don't know about forms of payment- i guess if it is an on-line purchase it wouldn't be possible to pay cash.

As of right now the following Broadway shows are up
13: $35.50
Gypsy: $36.00
Phantom of the Opera $35.50
Spring Awakening $36.00
Title of Show $35.50
Xanadu $35.50
tickets are subject to anywhere between $3-$6 service/handling fees.
Some shows specify "seats may be rear mezz" or other things similar otherwise it's a crap shoot on seats.

I guess I'm feeling nice this morning...
How do you join exactly?
You have to fill out the application online.
I know you pay by credit card online but I heard something about that you have to send your Student ID somewhere How does this work?
You get instructions for sending in a copy of it. Or you can send a scan unless it's changed. They accepted a scan of my UFT card. (union)
Can you pay Cash for the tickets?
Nope. Credit card at time of purchase only.
What shows are usually up there?
Depends. There's no way of knowing. Other than I highly doubt you'll see Wicked or Jersey Boys for a long time.
How far in Advance can you buy them?
Again, it depends. Usually only a couple of weeks but sometimes it's further out. The further out things are usually for more club concerts and things.
During the slow months what shows will be up?
See the answer to what shows are usually up there. There is no way to predict really.

What off bway shows? and how much are those?
Again, just as with Broadway shows, it varies. There is not really a way to predict.
Does TDF ony offer Bway & Offbway shows or do they have other tickets 2?
It depends. But I have seen some Town Hall things and some things at BB King's and so forth on there from time to time.
Bottom line is there is never a guarantee that ANYTHING will be on there. You just take your chances.
