TDF ticket question if you can't go to a show
#1TDF ticket question if you can't go to a show
Posted: 3/5/11 at 9:39pmI have tickets to Rain this Thursday and something has come up and it looks like I won't be able to make it. I know TDF says no refunds or exchanges but is there anyway I can get the tickets to someone else so they don't go to waste or has anyone had any luck trying to get an exchange for another date. Thanks in advance!

#2TDF ticket question if you can't go to a show
Posted: 3/5/11 at 11:24pmIt's hit or miss. Some places do ID, but many don't. I'd say that if you give them to a friend, get someone of your gender to go, and give him/her the printout. Exchange will most likely not work.

#3TDF ticket question if you can't go to a show
Posted: 3/6/11 at 10:50amThis has only happened to me a few times, but I've been able to use a TDF ticket past-dated, even on Broadway. Call Telecharge or whoever handles Rain tickets normally and they'll probably tell you it's okay, you might have to do it for a midweek performance and call that morning for availability, but I'm sure Rain isn't that full. Otherwise, it is pretty rare for them to ask for an ID when picking up TDF tix...

I think it depends on the theater, I bought a ticket to Race, which I thought was an 8 pm performance, when I went to pick the ticket up (and that theater requires a printout and ID) I was informed there was no ticket to pick up. The guy at the Box office my print out and saw it was for the matinee (Duh) and said no problem, he voided the matinee ticket and gave me a seat for the evening performance.
In December I had a ticket to one of the first previews of Blood from a Stone, I had fallen ill and could not go, I called the New Group administrative office and asked if I could reschedule it to another date. The women I spoke to said she would call the box office to see if they would (probably just stroking me, because she mentioned that the seat would go unpaid and I know for a fact that it was not a sell out nor were the ones in the following week) Anyway, she called me back and said they could not do it. So it depends on the theater or organization. Even though sales are non-refundable, some theaters are more understanding then others, so it does not hurt to ask.

Interestingly, since this thread started, I actually had another situation of not being able to use a TDF ticket this past Saturday night for Hello Again off-Broadway because of a funeral. I contacted the theater, and they said, sorry, no exchanges, then offered me the chance to see the show for free as an usher.
I was a little surprised, but happy to accept...

Posted: 3/8/11 at 12:22pmI would say do what April Saul said and call Telecharge. As far as I know they only do past dating on weekdays, but I had a similar situation with a TDF ticket and I had no issue switching it. I just called on the morning of the show I wanted to go to and they told me to bring the old ticket to the box office that evening and they would give me a new ticket.

Posted: 3/13/11 at 7:01pmThanks again everyone, I had no problems exchanging tickets for Rain. All I had to do was call the theatre this morning and they left the tickets for me at the box office, great seats too.
