Patti is getting first billing.
Passion. Deception. Religion. Revolution. These thrilling topics and more are brought to light in the world premiere of this provocative two-hander by David Mamet. Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, will go head-to-head with three-time Oscar nominee Debra Winger, as two powerful women forced to engage in a cage match of wits
I hope it's a good play!

I saw LuPone in The Old Neighborhood. She should stick to singing.

Actually, this is going to provide a lot of work for Michael Riedel. Winger is as nutty as a fruitcake and Patti is Patti.

I love Patti and gawbless her for sticking by Mamet, but I think he's plum outta ideas and humor.
Wasn't this supposed to be with the extraordinary Laurie Metcalf? Instead of Winger?? Was I huffing White Out and imagined that announcement?
They announced fairly recently about the casting change due to a scheduling conflict.
I think this is way too big of a theater for this play.
Is Mamet still auditioning for a Fox News analyst position? Because that will heavily calibrate my expectations for this play.
Does this mean Metcalf will be doing Detroit at Playwrights?
Very excited to see this! Haven't seen Patti in a drama, and I'm a big fan of Mamet. Unlike most, I really enjoyed both the writing and the performances in "Race".

theaterkid, right now she is performing in a long days journey into night in London. I don't know if that run is being extended or they want to bring that production to broadway, but that's what Metcalf is up to.
Maybe that's it. I know she did the original run of Detroit at Steppenwolf, but it looks like the times conflict. I would love it if Long Day's Journey extended even just 3 more weeks because then I could actually see it!
I believe Amy Ryan is playing the Laurie Metcalf part in Detroit. I'm guessing they are planning a Long Day's transfer.
I think this is way too big of a theater for this play.
I didn't think it was too big for Venus in Fur, another two hander.
I don't think the theater is too big, but I just wonder if it'll be interesting enough to grasp audiences.
Lupone is a name, sure, but in a non-musical?

I don't know, i would hardly say LuPone is a name outside of a niche market. (theater fans.) We saw with Gypsy that she can't really pack in the crowds. I would say Winger mit be able to but we'll have to see.
