I have an audition for The Who's TOMMY on Sunday at Uptown Players in Dallas and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for audition songs. I've chosen "One Song Glory" as one of my audition pieces, but I need a more upbeat one. Any suggestions of audition songs that fit the genre of TOMMY? Thanks.
Any help is much appreciated.
aw come on guys, anything?
Technically it's a good song for the audition. But I wouldn't do it just because it's RENT. With Tommy, I would go with an uptempo rock song, not necessarilly from a show. It's probably too late for you to find one now, so I'd stick to rock musicals. If you can find Bat Boy, "Comfort and Joy" might be a good one. And if you were to do RENT, I would think "What You Own" would be a better choice than "One Song Glory." But really, they just want to hear if you can sing. If they want to hear more they'll call you back.

I agree - uptempo rock or rock musical songs. In addition to what bjivie2 suggested, other stuff that might work include some of Judas's stuff in Jesus Christ Superstar - Heaven on Their Minds is my particular choice. Or some material from Hair maybe?
