We came. We saw. We loved them! After catching them close BW's Standing O last year, I called their agent for booking details. I'm hoping to bring them to NJ in our next season at the Eastern PAC.
So we caught their show on Wed. They are a cross between an acapella vocal STOMP show and the Manhattan Transfer. Totally entertaining and unpredictable. What a versitle and talented troupe.
They are at the John Houseman until mid October...so don't miss them before they go! Here's their website:

I agree. I thought it was like a blend of Manhattan Transfer, Bobby McFerrin and sketch comedy.
Amazingly talented cast and VERY funny.
My husband and I have been fans of Toxic Audio's since 2001 or so. We think they're a wonderful a cappella group, with tight harmonies and a great creative sense. Their show is really fun and exciting, with a LOT of entertainment.
It's a shame that they're closing on October 31st. From a fan's point of view, hopefully this WILL at least mean that they'll be on the road more often, having the opportunity to do gigs in a wider variety of locations.

Rene told me that they are working on at least one other troupe for 2 touring shows when they close in NY. They had two fabulous understudies on Wed. So if they are an indication of the caliber of talent that will tour, I'm not worried a bit.
This means a lot of "Toxions in the air" and in this case that's some good stuff! :)

Yeah they were the first people I created a thread about--they are too amazing for words to describe--I've seen the show 4 times and have tickets to see it 2 more. Not only are they amazing musical talents (I mean they composed virtually all of their songs!) But theyre soooooooooooooooooooooo nice!! They're just regular people, only amazingly talented. I wish they were more popular and stayed open longer--it's one of the best things I've ever encountered.

That's a good start. I've seen some understudies...Katie and Scott in NY, someone filling in for Shalisa at the last show during the Central Florida Fair (let's hear it for fried Twinkies on a stick!) and Jeff Williams in FL for many, many months, when Jeremy was sick. And they were all wonderful. So I have no doubt that a traveling show would work beautifully and, from a fans' perspective, give a larger variety of people (who can't necessarily go to NYC or Central FL) the chance to see Toxic Audio in action.
Understudies and touring shows are great. But just as any "original cast" can never be truly "replaced," I wonder what René, Jeremy, Shalisa, Michelle and Paul will be doing.
They got what they dreamed of...they opened and closed their own Off Broadway show. They're going to have touring troupes. NOW what are they going to do? They've already BEEN to Disneyworld [grin].
Although, if they'd like to come back a little more often, *I* certainly wouldn't mind...[wink] Sigh...what I wouldn't do for a Freaky Set at the PI Jazz Club again....
