Just wanted to thank all who responded to an earlier post, in which I asked for your thoughts on Virginia Woolf, The Other Place, & Picnic. Wound up seeing the first two and passing on Picnic. Partuicularly enjoyed Virginia Woolf from my wonderful front-row seat. The two leads were amazing. Tracy Letts was sheer perfection and Amy Morton was also fantastic. The cast burned up the stage and kept me riveted from start to end. The Other Place also captivated me from start to finish. Without giving anything away, I will say that the ending, for me, was the most powerful moment. Wish I could have seen it again, so that, rather than try to piece together certain elements and understand WHEN they occurred in relation to other events, I could just sit back and take it all in. Hopefully that makes some small amount of sense. At any rate, as always, this trip left me wanting to return to NYC soon to see more theater, visit more museums, and eat more sushi. Thanks for your great input!

It's funny. I was reading your thread at the same time I was making my own semiannual visit to NYC. I already knew I wanted to catch The Other Place and Drood from the reviews and comments I had read. Also caught Cat on a Hot Tin Roof despite the mediocre reviews - had to see Scarlett perform live and actually did enjoy the show despite its flaws. Was up in the air about seeing Woolf despite the amazing reviews. Had seen the 2005 revival with Kathleen Turner and thought it a bit soon to see it again. But ended up going on my last night and wow, I'm glad I did. As powerful a piece of theater as I've seen in quite some time and while Amy Morton was terrific, Tracy Letts' performance literally took my breath away. He was a force of nature. So glad I went and glad you enjoyed it as well.
