Did I miss something? I thought the play was messy and totally pointless. The two female characters who weren't the mother and the daughter didn't need to be in the show at all. No one had a character arc. I particularly felt bad for Laila Robbins, who had to spend 90 minutes flailing around on a bed like a crazy person.
The actors all seemed to be in different plays, and I thought the set design diffused tension by squeezing two major scenes onto the far sides of the stage.
I thought it was a bad production of a bad play. How was this ever a success anywhere? Can someone shed light?
I think it's deeply unfortunate that MTC used one of their season slots to produce this.

Posted: 5/17/10 at 7:19pmI didn't love it. I thought the acting from the three leads was good (especially from Laila), but I found the writing to be repetitive and somewhat pointless. I definitely really liked parts, but really hated other parts.
