When Martin Crewes leaves the London production of THE WOMAN IN WHITE, his replacement will be another recently arrived Australian, Damian Humbley. Damian's last Australian appearance was as Giorgio in PASSION.
Another local boy, Hayden Tee, will be the new Marius in the West End LES MISERABLES.
Also, an article in today's Sydney Morning Herald revealed that the associate conductor and vocal arranger of THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, Australian Carmel Dean, got hooked on musicals at her Perth high school`when she appeared in a production of THE BOYFRIEND with Heath Ledger!

Not forgetting the charismatic Simon Gleeson in the Gale Edwards-directed 'The Far Pavilions' also in London at the moment! Apparently audiences for the show are picking up, which is good news

I heart Carmel Dean. The woman is brilliant, and nothing is quite as fun as watching a new musical with her. Every now and then, after an especially belty note, she'll lean over and whisper what it was.
Damn that perfect pitch.

Know what I'd like to see? An Australian musical star come over here and grace our stages! Why doesn't that ever happen?
Oh, well, yeah, Jackman, but whatever - I'm talkin' a REAL talent...

Of course there have been other Australians on Broadway over the years Cyril Ritchard, Zoe Caldwell, Judith Anderson, Barry Humphries, Helen Reddy and that favourite of Susan Stroman's Sean Hingston are a few that come to mind.
There are a few people here that would be capable of taking over a role on Broadway. Particularly from the Australian production of The Producers.
