Does anyone have a recording of "The Boyfriend"? I am having trouble finding it and was wondering if anyone had it on their computer and has limewire so i could share it with them or anyone knew of a music download site that has it in their library. I have a Mac so it's hard to find sites that allows me to download. Thank you.

I have the one with Julie Andrews, and the one with Jule Carney. The latter I got at Strawberries, but the Julie Andrews one i got when THE BOYFRIEND came to Boston, they were selling them at the show. Try amazon or something like that.

I've heard or read somewhere that the Original Broadway Cast Recording of The Boy Friend is a difficult CD to find these days. If you can locate it, it's the one that I would most recommend. The performances are very sharp and droll, and Julie Andrews is of course, sublime.

If not, the Judy Carne recording, which was just released on CD recently, by Decca, is not a bad second choice. It's in stereo, unlike the Broadway recording, and it also includes the delightful "It's Nicer in Nice," which figures heavily in the Overture, but was left off of the original recording. Carne is no match for Julie Andrews, but she's OK. Sandy Duncan, though, is terrific in the supporting role of Maisie.

I also have the Cameron Macintosh-produced London revival recording, but I don't recommend it. There are souped up arrangements that lose the charm, and some very off-pitch singing throughout. ("The Riviera" on that recording is particularly brutal).

Also recently released is the small-scale original London production recording. I haven't purchased it, but I gather that it's a very different version of the material than what played on Broadway.

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.
