I know that I have already posted a message asking about this theater before, but my friends have asked me to order some tickets for them to Shrek, and they're very picky as to where they sir. How is the view from front-center rear mezz.? Extreme right in the orchestra about halfway back?

PS- sorry I'm being so vague right now, I'm typing via iPhone wihout specific seat #'s to look at...

Certainly NOT!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I will try and give you some info. I have heard that the Rear Mezz in The Broadway Theater is not great, too far. Don't know about orchestra.

I have sat in the back of that theater twice now. One for miss saigon all the way at the top center and the other for color purple which was second to last row on stage right. I think that they are great seats. You do feel very far away but you see pretty much everything. I think if do go see Shrek it will most likely be in those seats as well. I am also very picky about my seats but for shows like shrek the less I spend the better. Hope this somewhat helps.

it is a BIG theatre but the orchestra seems very small so that is great. i sat in the last row for cp and I will NEVER sit there for any show at the Broadway ever again.

i want to see shrek but I will not be sitting in the rear mezz or even mid.

Thanks, guys! And PalJoey, I was asking how the view was from front-center rear mezz. And how the view was from the extreme right in he orchestra.

If they want to see the stage pictures and patterns, the floor, the proscenium, then the mezzanine is fine. It's far, but grand. From the main floor you can see everything pretty well from a front-on perspective, in that it doesn't seem overly wide.

I prefer to be on the main floor at the Broadway, but I saw the original cast of "Les Miz" in May of 1987 from the rear mezzanine, side section, and I don't feel I missed anything. It's just different.

They are indeed quite interested in the technical aspects of the show, but hey don't want to be too far away... This is more of a tough descision than I thouht it would be!
