I just got a copy of 110 in the Shade on ebay for 30 bucks, which I think is worth it.
High Spirits I found years ago for 6 bucks.
I think with the RCA titles, you won't have to worry about them being reissued.
Another yard sale find:
The Elaine Paige London cast recording of THE KING & I. I think that one cost me $0.50...

I found an LP of "The Yearling" in my local music store for $.25. Possibly the most obscure find I've ever made.
And to think MEF, I actually had to go to London for that one!
Yeah, I don't think it's ever been available in the US. I REALLY lucked out, since I'm as big an Elaine Paige fan as you can find.

Erm. I guess Les Miz (London cast) for $22.99?
I paid 25 for "THey're playing our song"..OMG.. LOVE IT
Not sure if it out of print... but I bought the OBCR of "Cats" for 35 bucks.
I paid 12 pound for the Mary Martin (London) HELLO, DOLLY! back in 1980. What was I thinking?!? I today's terms I guess that has to be around $120+ ...and it is on vinyl and mono! On the other hand a little later I found the London Cast of 1776 (starring Lewis Fiander) in a sale bin for 50 cents. So, you win some you lose some.
Hey, alterego, How is the London 1776? I have never tracked down a copy and it has not as yet been released on CD. How does it compare with the two Broadway cast albums and the film soundtrack?
Also, Broadway Bound Star, THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG and the Broadway cast of CATS are both in print. CATS especially seems to turn up in every used CD store. SONG sells new for 11.98 on Amazon (8.25 used)
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Violet...FREE!
Most I have ever paid for a "cast album" was $25 for the original 10" Lp soundtrack from the movie of CALL ME MADAM. (Bought with the proceeds of a part time after school job in 1977 when minimum wage was $2.15 per hour!)
OTOH I have sold a lot on E-bay including WHOOP UP ($150), LI'L ABNER (original CD edition, before reissue: $60) and HIGH SPIRITS (I picked up a half dozen sealed copies for $4.99 each and resold for $30-$40)

I think I paid $40 something for the Tel Aviv cast of Les Miz.
How i find great records... go to your library, the entire basment of mine is used books/records/tapes both dicarded from the library and donated by people. example prices .25 books $1 records
this is also how some libraries make money to stay open
$35 for Mr. President
$40 for Minnie's Boys. Its a musical, AND its about the Marx Brothers - clearly, I had to have it.
Reading this thread makes me wanna go to tag sales more often! lol.
I paid $75 for the world touring cast of Evita starring Florence Lacey(is that right, sorry, I'm really outta it this morning!) It is actually a rather enjoyable recording..but not THAT enjoyable!
I found Minnie's Boys for 7 bucks a long time ago. Whee!

$60 apiece for BLOOMER GIRL, HIGH BUTTON SHOES, AND BARNUM...and ALL THREE OF THEM GOT REISSUED!!!! Oh well, at least I wasn't the fool who spent over $200 on YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLE BROWN and LI'L ABNER since those also got remastered.
I am lucky that I bought 110 IN THE SHADE, HIGH SPIRITS, ME AND JULIET, SILK STOCKINGS, DO RE MI, YOUR OWN THING, SUGAR, NEW GIRL IN TOWN, LITTLE MARY SUNSHINE, WHERE'S CHARLEY?, LITTLE ME and TAKE ME ALONG before they went out of print (Good luck trying to find any of them!). Even luckier that a local library was practically giving away a banged-up, but very playable copy of the SOPHISTICATED LADIES CD!
BobbyBubby, where were you when I was shopping for it?:)
someone here paid $60 for THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG?!!!
i just saw this at my local borders: $9.99.
I got They're playing our song from my local library...but I have seen it at Borders, or Barnes and Noble...one of the 'B' bookstores.
They're Playing our Song isn't out of print, or at least it isn't hard to find. I got a copy on Half.com for 4 bucks.
MagictoDo2: My "good finds" kharma is over I think. I haven't found anything rare at a used cd store in ages.

I actually had a friend in the studio who had a Casette Tape of the Recording of the 86 Sweet Charity and he basically made a selections tape but it had a few cool spots where there were some songs with just insturmental (Rich Mans Frug) before the vocals were added in and then a copy of just the singers putting in the "Oo'h------------- Yeah Yeah's" And a few times in Big Spender where they had to stop and the piano player had to bang out the low F for the girls at the start of the song.
EDIT - Sorry This was random placement - I was trying to respond to the first few responses about Sweet Charity but I ended up at the end of the list. Sorry
