The other day I was on 42nd walking out of the subway and noticed that the took down the Ecko billboard that was covering the facade of The Times Square Theatre I had never seen it before because it was always covered. I must say that it is a VERY beautiful building. But, for some reason it reminded me of the facade of The Music Box. Is it just me who felt this way?

Are there plans afoot to do something with the Times Square Theatre? Will it be renovated and return to doing legitimate plays/musicals? I believe it's the one remaining theatre on 42nd Street that isn't being used for something. Anyone out there know anything about this?
The Liberty auditorium is also sitting unused.
I believe the problem with the Times Square is that it doesn't have a 43rd Street loading dock, although I haven't figured out how they would have loaded in the clothing for the Mark Ecko store without closing a lane on busy 42nd Street.

That is what I was going to say.
Oooooooooooooo someone post a picture of it if they can!
Since not much seemed to have happened during the time it was covered, it basically looks like this.
Methinks that there is a solution for there not being a load in entrance on 43rd. I mean I feel that New 42nd street must have had an idea up its sleeve considering that there was going to be a store there that if I remember correctly didn't happen due to problems with Ecko not New 42nd.
That would be a great theater for play revivals and whatnot. It's got great foot traffic and a great location. I'm surprised they sold it. Not to mention it's freaking beautiful.

Think I've read they either built stores on its stage or removed the stage for stores decades ago. Not sure how to picture that exactly!
And I've read, maybe even on this site, that you would hear a lot of street noise from 42nd street while seeing a show there today. Does the stage face 42nd street and the auditorium back up onto 42nd? I may be confusing it with another theater.
Seems like a great location for an interactive Broadway museum
The obvious solution to the street noise problem is presenting a rock show there at deafening volume. Since they're famous for picking offbeat or dilapidated venues, I think Hedwig and her Angry Inch deserve a Broadway debut.

I certainly wouldn't object to a Hedvig revival. My problem is, John Cameron Mitchell spoiled the show for me in terms of seeing it with anyone else. I know, I know -- his successors (none of whom I saw) got awfully good notices, but I think this may be a case of once you've seen Mitchell do it, no else will do. One thought -- the role isn't that age-specific -- maybe Mitchell would be willing to do a reprise? Just throwing it out for comments, if there are any.
Raul Esparza has done the role off-Broadway, right?...
IF NOT.....
