i was just on freakymartian.com and there was a clip from The Visit Demo Recording.

was this a musicalization of the play: The Visit!?

if so that would be very exciting, i love the play, the song didn't sound to hot though

Chita Rivera starred, and the material was written by her long time work parnters Kander & Ebb, and Terrence Mcnally.

The show never made it to Broadway. But I wouldn't say it's completely scrapped forever.

kander and ebb wrote the music and lyrics with a book by terrance mcnally. it was to be directed by frank galati and choreographed by ann reinking.

it was written for angela lansbury and was supposed to be her broadway return, in 2001. ms. lansbury pulled out when her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor - he later died. the role was then offered to diana rigg, judi dench, and shirley mcclaine. ms. mcclaine was said to have accepted, but then accepted a tv movie.

two years later, the goodman theatre in chicago mounted it with its orginial team and chita rivera and john mcmartin.

it received mixed to positive notices.

this production was then announced for the public with chita reprising her role and john langella replacing john mcmartin.
when a major investor pulled out, the public had to pull it from their season.

recently, mcnally has stated that he would like to see it produced in nyc and is hoping that chita's one-woman show will generate the interest for this to happen.

the score is beautiful.

The "major investor" that pulled out are the two main producers of RENT.

I didn't know Ann Reinking choreographed this! How was the choreography?

I'd personally love to see this, whatever it's merits may be. I am a HUGE fan of the source material.

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

I saw the play many years ago at a small theater downtown with Anthony Zerbe. It's a chilling piece.

I am currently in THE VISIT, and I don't know if the piece musical would work...it kinda stands on its own.
