The eyes in Next to Normal?
#1The eyes in Next to Normal?
Posted: 2/6/10 at 10:25pmYou know when the eyes cover the second level of the set (and I think a mouth covers the first level of the set at one point too). What is it supposed to symbolize?

Posted: 2/6/10 at 10:33pmThe eyes represent the times in the show when we're going into Diana's mind. It's introspective.

"Side note: The eyes on the set are Alice's, but the ones on the logo are not."
I think it's the other way around.

Posted: 2/6/10 at 11:02pmIt's the other way around. The one on the logo is Alice, but I have no idea whose eyes those are on the set.

Posted: 2/6/10 at 11:03pmReally? I could have sworn Alice said in her Ask a Star that it was weird looking at her eyes on the set.

Posted: 2/6/10 at 11:04pmThey belong to Emily Skinner. It's the shows attempt at irony.

She said it was weird seeing her eyes on the marquee.

Posted: 2/7/10 at 1:05pmI thought the question was if it's weird seeing your own eyes on the set and she said those aren't her eyes on the set but they are on the marquee.

Posted: 2/7/10 at 1:35pmYes I believe someone asked her what it was like seeing her eyes on the set and she said the eyes onstage are not hers but the logo and marquee are.

Posted: 2/8/10 at 8:50pmWhen she leaves the show, would they replace the marquee? Or keep it the way the Weislers keep using Gretchen Mol's image to promote "Chicago" even though she has not been in the show for years?
#19The eyes in Next to Normal?
Posted: 2/8/10 at 9:20pmThe eyes on the poster/marquee are Alice's. On the window card, in very very small type it says "Photo of Alice Ripley: Evan Kafka"

It's the logo of the show. I doubt they'll change it.
They didn't change the Hairspray logo when MJW left.
