In my opinion, this season was a bloody good one (that still isn't over). Even without 110 IN THE SHADE, LOVEMUSIK, CURTAINS, LEGALLY BLONDE, and THE PIRATE QUEEN not having opened yet, it's already a competitive contest for several categories at the Tony Awards. The competition will get more fierce when those five shows open.

Next season we will see SISTER ACT, THE LITTLE MERMAID, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, GREASE, SHREK, and SOUTH PACIFIC.

If next season turns out to be as good as this one, I'll be very pleased. Plus, am I quite happy that this season two long-lasting shows are closing for all the right intentions - to bring in fresh material. THE PRODUCERS and BEAUTY & THE BEAST both had their time to shine, they are dying, this was acknowledged, and new shows are coming in.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

this season is amazing. Apple tree and 110 in the shade! two of my favorites in the same year! Next season looks amazing, but is the wiz transfering?

All I know is it's a better season this year than last year. And for that I'm thankful. I can't wait for the upcoming shows this seasons and next season looks great. Can't wait for YF and The Little Mermaid!

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Is Shrek a "go" for next season? It'll be interesting to see Disney and Dreamworks duke it out on Broadway.

This season has been one of the best for straight plays in recent memory: Lincoln Center presenting THE COAST OF UTOPIA, brilliant revivals of HEARTBREAK HOUSE, TRANSLATIONS and JOURNEY'S END, Signature's August Wilson tribute season, THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED and the underrated VERTICAL HOUR...not to mention DEUCE, THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING, PRELUDE TO A KISS, and RADIO GOLF-just to name a few-on the horizon.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Unfortunately the only play I have seen this season has been Lousing Louie. I really want to see The Little Dog Laughed.

I liked Louie....it did have it's down points (the bizarre discussion on penises at the end, for one)....the concept was phenominal.
