The Threepenny Opera was excellent last night and I am happy to announce there was no sound problems.
I sat mid-mezz and could hear everything just fine.
I thought it was a very interesting and funny show.
Cyndi, Ana, and Jim Dale were the standouts for me.
At the stage door everyone was very accomodating and nice.
And Liza Minelli even made a guest appearance in the audience and at the stage door after the show.

I was also there last night, and enjoyed it very much. It was quite fun to see Liza.
I left the stagedoor at 12, did Cyndi ever end up coming out?
Edited because I can't spell Cyndi.

She usually comes out drunk around 12:15, but I don't know what time she came out extactly at last night.

I didn't think she was subpar at all.
I love her voice.
I have another question though--what's up with Nellie McKay?
She was acting pretty strange at the stage door also.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 4:17pmI don't know. She just seems like she's not all there.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 4:17pmHow was Liza? Did she sign for people as well? I want to have Cyndi sign her CD for me Saturday night. Guess I should be prepared to wait :) I would also like to meet Alan Cumming.

Why so hostile? I thought Cyndi sang beautifully when I saw the show. Salome's Song was amazing. And Nellie was delightfully wacky as Polly. I've seen many productions of 3PO and she was my favorite Polly to date. I understood exactly where her character was coming from. She made strong character choices and I felt they all worked great. Of course, Act 2 really belongs to Brian as Lucy Brown, but that doesn't take away from the great work the rest of the cast did.

Liza pretty much walked right out and said "Hi guys!" and then I realized who it was and said "Holy ****-that was Liza Minelli". She didn't sign she just walked right to her car.
Yeah Cyndi takes the longest to come out and Alan came out at around 11:45-ish.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 5:06pmWhy does it take them so long to come out? It took long at the matinee as well. Also why is cyndi always drunk? Is she an alcoholic? lol

First of all, Cyndi isn't 'always drunk' - whoever said that should be careful they aren't sued for libel... and that isn't a joke.
There are always MANY people who come back stage after a show and especially for Alan and Cyndi, that means taking time to meet and socialize with them.
Thanks, JarNerdAV for that nice compliment

Yeah it was raining when I went to the sd so somehow a bunch of people got backstage.
Cyndi and Alan didn't come till really late after 12 for sure but they were great to talk to!
I absolutly love the whole cast they are all great!

Posted: 6/22/06 at 6:15pmWow. Is that really you Brian? How cool. My partner and I got a chance to meet you last Saturday night when we went backstage to meet Cyndi (having won a charity auction to do so). You were very sweet and gracious, as was the rest of the cast. What a fabulous show--I only wish I could have seen it again. I really, really, really hope you all have a chance to record it so those of us who only had a chance to see it once can relive the experience.

Ugh I need to rush this show this weekend! All I hear about is "Lucy" and I really want to hear this production and there's no cd as of now.

So, wait. You haven't seen the show AND you said Cyndi's singing is "subpar?"
Well, her subpar singing happens to be one of the best parts of the show.
