Someone asked about this many months ago. Toni, talks about her involvement in her blog this week. The other two installments are further down the blog...

Very interesting. I actually saw Ms. Tennille in the national tour of "Victor/Victoria" and thought she was very good. I admire her honesty in describing the tour experience. Those of us who don't live in NYC and can only get there maybe once a year (if we're lucky) are thankful for people like Ms. Tennille who are willing to bring these shows to our cities.

I saw her too and she was damn good.
She is quite tall and her voice was amazing.
I had a complete opposite reaction to her performance and the tour in general. Perhaps I saw it on an off night. But I found it completely lackluster and quite frankly boring save one or two moments. It was one of the only shows I have seen in my life that I sincerely almost walked out on...
Oh, I didn't mean to say the show was good.
CurtainPullDowner-
I might get razzed for this, but I think this was one of those shows that was fun to see because Julie Andrews was on stage.
Toni Tennille didn't work for me because the premise or "device" of the show is that It's a woman playing a man playing a woman. I might have seen it on an off night - and maybe Toni was ill or whatnot - but the night I saw it (and I remember this vividly) her voice was quite low - speaking and singing. There was no distinction between her performance as a man or as a woman. And I don't want to sound mean (sincerely) - but she also seemed to lack grace and poise like I imagine Julie Andrews presents on stage.
I am and have always been a huge fan of the movie. I adore watching both Andrews and Preston and the supporting cast.
Maybe she was "off" the night you saw her.
I thought the low voice was great for her masculine side and her singing (the night I saw it) was divine.
As a Louisvillian, it kind of makes me sad to read her semi-bash Louisville. You can't smoke anywhere here now, Toni!
Anyway, I was in like...6th grade when she came here, before I was in theatre, and before I knew who Toni Tennille is. Oh well.
Has the captain been demoted? Is he now a mere deck hand?
Enquiring minds want to know
I saw Toni in Louisville, and by no means do I think she was "bashing" us. What she says is true. Thank God this summer we are going to a total ban on smoking indoors.
