You have a tendency to post things that already exist on the first page of the main board.

Just wanted to put in the good word for this show. It's a wonderfully acted production, and Seth is a worthy replacement for Harvey. The real force of the production, however, was Brad Thomason as Ed. Really great stuff, although the actor playing David looked way older than 15.

I know it's sold out tonight and tomorrow, but there's still tickets for the closing Sunday matinee at 3. The show is 3 hours and 45 minutes long, but definitely worth your time. Go support the Gallery Players, they really do great stuff.

I haven't seen it yet but i'll try to make it Sunday.

They've been talking about a broadway revival for YEARS! Do you think this could be it?

I found this production weak overall. Seth Rudetsky is a personality, that's for sure, but not a strong enough actor for this marathon role. There were many times when he was just spitting out lines so fast I could barely understand them. Also, in the final part, his indignation isn't fiery enough. His performance didn't register anything with me.

Brad Thomason's Ed was spectacular, as was the actress who played Laurel (I forget her name, and don't have my playbill in front of me). The rest of the cast was just so-so.

It's nearly 4 hours, and it feels like longer. That's never happened to me with this play before. I'd say skip it.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I don't know about this becoming a Broadway revival. To me the question with revivals is always, why must this show be revived now? Sometimes it's nice to bring things back just for entertainment value, but I doubt a 3 hour and 45 minute dramedy would qualify for this.

They'd probably have to get a bigger name either for Mrs. Beckoff or maybe Lady Blues/Laurel. The Gallery production has one woman play Lady Blues and one woman play Laurel, it's usually supposed to be the same woman.

There's also the continued discussion of the play's lack of any mention of AIDS. The LGBT community in general has come so far since 1982 that the show would need some solid set design to make sure it was obviously in the late 70s/early 80s. Otherwise, it would become a period piece. That was one of the troubles of this production for me. It looked too modern.

All those negatives aside, I think there's a lot of great stuff here that would do well on Broadway. Rudetsky is more of a personality than an actor, but I think with a powerful director and more time to get into the role, he would succeed.
