#1Trip to NYC in April 08

My partner and I are going to go to NYC for his birthday in April and we wanted to see some shows. We plan on going to see a show Friday and Saturday Night but we don't know if we should just throw caution to the wind and go to TDF or maybe go to broadwaybox or another of the discount places....
What should I see?
I want to see Sunday in the Park with George and Gypsy but I think he wants to see The Little Mermaid and Wicked. We are poor and would have to sit in the balcony~ any of the theaters NOT good?
We have hotel reservations at Chelsea Inn.
Anyone know if this is a decent hotel?
All help is helpful.

General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."

As far as I have seen-

The balcony of the Lunt Font (little mermaid) is fine..I saw Beauty and the Beast there..

Studio 54 (SITPWG) is fine for seeing shows in the upper seats.

Gershwin (Wicked) upper seats are fine...kinda cool actually!

St James Theater(Gypsy??) I think thats where it is going anyway! the seats in the upper balcony are like nose bleed, and sometimes things get a bit cut off from what I remember when I saw the Producers there....

...and I always use BroadwayBox.com for my discount tickets, I hate taking the chance at TKTS, especially with new shows like Gypsy and SITPWG...and I know the Little Mermaid hasnt been up on TKTS for a while....

...sorry this was all a little scattered haha...but have a great trip!!!

I saw both The Little Mermaid and Wicked up in the balcony. Both were fine. Actully I think I like it better up top because you can see the whole stage. With Wicked you can always try the lotto. As for the hotel I dunno. I never stayed there.

Anything else to do romantic that is not too too expensive?

You could always take the Staten Island Ferry at night. It's free. I'm not sure how romantic that is but seeing Manhattan all lit up at night is neat. Well it is to me. LOL

We are going to do the Staten Island Ferry
And also Grimaldi's in Brooklyn for Pizza
And he wants to go to Chinatown for some Dim Sum
But since this is a theater board I should really talk more about what shows to see.

I am thinking about Gyspsy
or Curtains maybe?
Xanadu?

Curtains has the day-of "partial view" seats for half price. I did it one night a few weeks ago ~ didn't get there until after 6, and I was the only one who got one. I was dead center ~ only kind of blocked by the conductor a time or two. GREAT bargain!!

Join HIPTIX Gold for $75 total for both of you, and get $20 Orchestra seats to SUNDAY IN THE PARK.

It's worth it.

Enjoy your trip!
