In Reidels column today, a taste of the future re ticket prices

In the past, ticket prices held steady for a few years. Now it appears every year a blockbuster new show will up the price of their top regular ticket price & set the bar for other shows. This time the parties that brought you "premium seating" appear to be bringing us the $ 120 Orchestra seat

It is the Brooks gang & Young Frankenstein. Nothing surprises me anymore but Mrs R said this is bordering on lunacy. I reminded her that how , not to long ago we had empty theaters & after 9/11 they could not give tickets away

They are really intent on thinning out the Broadway audience. How much more money does Brooks & Co need ? Unless we sit upstairs or (highly unlikely) get an offering Young Frankenstein may not be happening for us

Maybe I can get my brother in law with the $ 200,000 K a year job to get it for us as a Christmas present

Anyone else have any thoughts on the very good possibility of $ 120 ticket prices

I blame Bush, I guess.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Why not?

Since I cannot blame anyone else, he is responsible for my peripheral neuropathy, bladder cancer, colon problems. I will also blame him when the # 7 train is late and/or discharges passengers 2 stops before Main St in the morning rush hour

He was also the reason why Lestat bombed & why every show is not recorded. There, I got it off my chest

Back to the discussion, how do you feel about $ 120 tickets Hook ?

I'm guessing there won't be $25 tickets from AM NY for that one...

I blame the first person in history who ever raised a price! They got the ball rolling and the rest of us got screwed!

MrRoxy and CaptnHook, Bush had nothing to do with it.

Bush is just a scrim.

Cheney pulls the strings.

It's all Cheney's fault.

(And BTW, MrRoxy, CaptnHook, Caroline-Q-or-TBoo, why do I feel like I'm addressing a bowl of breakfast cereal?)
