I went to see Urinetown today and saw John Cullum's last performance in the show. It was my sixth time seeing the show, and I took my friend to see it for her second time because Jeff McCarthy was out her first time. There was a little speech after the curtain call, and it was obvious that the cast is going to miss Mr. Cullum very much, especially since he has been with the production since it started off-Broadway.
The show was wonderful, as usual, but Mr. Cullum added little things that I hadn't seen him do before. The best was at the end when he is carried off stage and you hear him yell as he is (seemingly) thrown over, well, whatever he is supposed to be thrown off of....his yell was sooooooooo extended that I saw Carolee Carmello turn around to laugh onstage.
After the show, my friend chose a nearby pub for us to eat at and, to our surprise, the cast was having a goodbye party upstairs so while we were eating we kept seeing cast members walk by, including Hunter Foster (who I absolutely love).
I was sad to see Mr. Cullum leave the show, I thought he was wonderful in the role and I'm glad that I was able to see his last performance...
Did anyone else catch it?

Me! I couldn't very well miss John's last show and a good one it was indeed! I splurged and got front row which was well worth it for the wide-eyed (and quick) look of recognition John shot at me during his Cladwell number.
Even though I'll be seeing him in Wilder, I'll miss him in UT.
