Vanya vs Bountiful

I'm hoping to rush a show in August, and I really want to see a play. I'm considering either Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, or The Trip to Bountiful. From those who have seen it, which would you recommend?

I liked both, But it depends on if you want a LOL comedy or a touching look at the past. Both were really well done.

while Bountiful was good, Vanya is extraordinary. There is no contest. Vanya.

Seeing Bountiful tomorrow. I enjoyed Vanya - second act was amazing, first act was eh. David Hyde Pierce is amazing as usual and Billy is lovely to look at.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I much preferred TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL.

I saw them both but I saw Vanya twice. It was great the first time and even more enjoyable the second. While Bountiful was good, it is somewhat slow and not especially memorable except for Tyson's performance.

If you're only seeing one, skip Bountiful and watch the movie with Geraldine Page instead. I think it's much more powerful than this current revival.

My husband and I suffered through Vanya 3 weeks ago-- we simply don't understand all the love for that show. Full disclosure-- haven't seen Bountiful, so can't diss it.

But I've been to The Nance twice, raved about it to all our friends, who were then equally dazzled and moved. Best play on Broadway by a wide margin for us.

I haven't see Nance or Bountiful, but I say skip Vanya!

Seeing Cicley Tyson live on stage IS the reason to see this. Once in a lifetime opportunity.
