Except it is NOT the OZ composer (Harold Arlen) but rather its lyricict: E.Y.Harburg who is being honoured with a stamp.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Ah, that's very nice. E.Y. Harburg also wrote the lyrics for Finian's Rainbow and such timeless standards as "It's Only A Paper Moon" and "Down With Love" (both with Arlen), and "Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?"
Oh this IS great news. I'm tickled that such a Commie Pinko Leftie genius like Yip Harburg got recognized! It would only befitting that Harold Arlen should get a stamp too at some point.
(Love the Henry Fonda stamp...)
