We saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on Thursday night. I was glad everyone was in after not being bothered about seeing Pryce. I have never really taken to him before but he was truly marvellous at Lawrence and he had a great chemistry going with Norbert. It was lovely to see Joanna Gleason after watching her and loving her for what seems like an eternity on the "Into the Woods" tape. It is amazing that Norbert puts so much into the performance after doing it for so long, what an amazing professional. Overall you could tell everyone was really loving what they were doing up there and enjoying themselves which was certainly infectious !! I would say overall I liked the show a lot although I was surprised that they used so much of the film's dialogue (but then if they didn't I guess we would miss all those great lines.). By the way Jonathan gave a very funny fund raising speech raising money for Broadway Cares when the show was over.

Tarzan. We saw it on Friday night and what to say that hasn't already been said? Yes on occasion it looks great especially the opening sequence but the first act barely scrapes through keeping any of our interest and second act is just as boring as hell. The version that it is in at present is just a waste of a lot of talent on the stage. I can't work out whether the book is really bad or the direction is way off. What was with that spider ? I was slightly disheartened to hear the amount of wild screaming during the bows. The actors deserved applause for doing the best with what they are given but the show does not deserve it. Phil Collins was on the front row of the mezz by the way, Phil I can't remember anything about any of the songs that I had not heard before I saw the show. To finish off saying something positive some the of the stage and lighting design is stunning.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel.

It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known.

I loved Dirty Rotten Scoundrels when I saw the original cast last year - great score and great performances. It sounds like Pryce would be a good choice for the rumoured London transfer, but I'm worried bythe talk that it may go into Drury Lane - it'll get completely lost in that cavern...
