Posted: 12/9/05 at 5:46pmI don't see anything wrong with a junior-senior production of Company IF they had a strong program.

Posted: 12/9/05 at 5:49pmI don't think Company is really right for a younger production...the characters are all much too old and often talk about middle-aged problems...it would just be silly.

I am not sure that it will be a big "hit", if you do it. I don't think the problem is having the students play older characters. I am just not sure high school students will get Company, as much as they need to in order to make it a successful production.
Children of Eden is a much better choice!!

Posted: 12/9/05 at 5:55pmI think NYSinger1 hit it right on the head. The issues at the center of Company are unlikely to really resonate with teens, even if they are amazingly talented and mature.

Posted: 12/9/05 at 7:45pmI agree with the above. No matter how talented you guys are, it's really one of the few classic musicals out there that absolutely has be to done by adults...

I'm a bit younger than those age ranges, and our group is doing Company, ages going up to 18. I fully get the message, but I understand if some of you think it may be somewhat difficult to get. I'm not going to argue, and I don't know much about Children of Eden, but I think Company is a beautiful show, dealing with outstanding messages that leave you thinking, which is how I come out of every rehearsal. I'm so sorry for my little vent, soemtimes it's hard to be one of the younger ones on this board :) Good luck on the show fiyero!

Posted: 12/9/05 at 11:36pmI'm in the age range and I still wouldn't want to do COMPANY, just because I like Children of Edens...Big ensemble Songs...plus more people would come see this. Its also a show that lets a large group of kids get together and do a GREAT show. If you did Company you would only be using only a few students and sometimes in High Schools thats not cool.
