Who would you cast in SISTER ACT: The Musical?

With Alan Menken at work for the Pasadena Playhouse's production of SISTER ACT: The Musical, I'm sure this show has hopes for Broadway.

Who would you like to see in the lead roles?

Deloris Van Cartier/Sister Mary Clarence...Perhaps a much needed Broadway return for Fredi Walker?

Mother Superior...Carole Shelley (if she's not in The First Wives Club: The Musical)

Sister Mary Patrick...Judy Kaye

Sister Mary Robert...Stephanie D'Abruzzo (for some reason she reminds me of Wendy Makkena in the movie)

Sister Mary Lazarus...Ellaine Stritch (a boy can dream)

I'm not too sure about Vince, Joey, Willy or Lt. Souther...I'll have to think about that. Meanwhile...feel free to comment or add your own ideas.

One of the flaws of Sister Act, is that it was originally written for Bette Midler. When Bette turned it down, they cast Whoopi without bothering to change the storyline. Hence, when they are looking for Deloris in the casino, they should have just said "Look for the black nun".

Queen Latifah is WRONG for the part.

Julie Andrews, unfortunately, wouldn't be able to handle the vocals of a gospel musical.

Marissa Jaret Winokur doesn't have a gospel voice either.

Phantom...she never sings in the movie, yes. But who's to say that character wouldn't have a song in the musical?

Really? Kathy was just in an off-broadway show and King of the Hill was cancelled so I wouldn't doubt if she took a supporting role in a Broadway show.
