...preview get cancelled for Chicago? I heard that there were "casting issues", but is that all? I'm slightly sad about it, since I love previews and was thoroughly excited to see this one. Sigh...
I was under the impression that it was because La Cage closed early and they were able to open for previews at the Marquis and save themselves quite a bit of $$$.

I agree. I am pretty sure it was because La Cage is closing, and being that the Marquis is one of the nicest theater, (if not the nicest theater) on broadway, the producers probably jumped at the chance to take it, and it will save them money...

Ah, yes, that would make sense. Thanks for the explanations!
I sure don't think the Marquis theatre is one of the nicest broadway theatres. You have to go into a hotel to access it, it has absolutely zero character to it, and it just doesn't doesnt seem like such a find for a dark, gothic piece like Woman in White. It's all red carpeting everywhere. Id prefer it in an older theatre or the minskoff.
The Minskoff? You want it to fail?

"The enterance to the theatre is through a hotel?"
The Marquis? Yup. It's on the second floor (I think?) of the Marriott Marquis hotel.
The fact that it's inside the hotel is no big deal. The lack of classic decoration in the auditorium is disappointing but the stage, accoustics, seats, etc. are wonderful.
Well I went to it for the first time for La Cage and thought, gee, talk about a glitzy show in a glitz-less theatre.

Yes, it's at the Marriot Marquis, on what they call the 3rd floor.. but it's really the second floor to which you come. I'm pretty sure entering through the hotel is optional; they have an escalator that comes out right onto Times Square.
