Sorry If this has been asked before I did a search and nothing came up. I was just serious as to why at the beginning of the light in the piazza Tony performance, Victoria was holding a microphone? Random I know but I've always wondered.
Thanks
i am pretty sure there was a techinical issue....its fun to re-enact with a karaoke machine though...

Body mic went out...
Pretty obvious technical glich
I though it was because she was introducing the performance . . .
its spelled Clark just for future reference, her second daughter was named Katie Clarke (I know its confusing)
She tells the story in some interview, basically about 3 seconds before she goes out they thought that her mic had blew and hand her...the largest and most gaudy mic in history. Anyway, later on in the performance (on the bench) she takes away the big mic, and there is a second where you only hear her though Kelli's mic, but then her mic comes on and all is good. It is a damn good Tony performance too boot!

no one rocks the mic like MC Vicki Clark!

I love that moment though, she does the sideglance and hands over that crappy mic to someone. She seemed like she was going to walk through my tv and give me a tour or something with the way she was advancing on the camera like that.
It made me think of in "Steel Magnolias" when the one character buys the radio station and starts doing the "Color" for the football broadcasts...
